Rentorize · Couples Guide
A guide to the most romantic things to do in Accra, from sunset beaches to candlelit dinners, art, and a day in the hills, with a private apartment at Embassy Gardens as your base.
Accra is an easy city to be in love in. The romance is spread out though, across beaches on the coast, a dining strip in Cantonments and Osu, an art space out in East Legon, and the cool green hills at Aburi. Here is how couples actually spend a few days here, and where to come back to at night. If you want the stay sorted first, see our romantic getaways apartment guide.
The short version
The coast is the easiest romance in Accra. Each beach has a different mood, so pick by the evening you want.
Accra dines late and well. A few places couples come back for, though it is worth checking current hours since the scene moves quickly:
For a slower afternoon side by side:
Sometimes the most romantic plan is doing very little. Several hotel spas take couples bookings, so reserve a treatment room ahead:
When you want to get out of the heat and the traffic, head up to Aburi Botanical Gardens, about an hour north in the Akuapem hills. It is cooler, green, and quiet, with shaded paths and old trees, the kind of place couples wander slowly and lose track of time. It is also a lovely, low-key spot for a proposal. Pack a light lunch or buy snacks on the way up.
All of this works best from somewhere central and private. The Rentorize one-bedroom apartment at Embassy Gardens sits in Cantonments, minutes from the Osu restaurants and a short drive from the coast, with pool access, fast Wi-Fi, and backup power so a quiet evening in is never cut short. It is set up for two and kept pet-free. For the full picture, see the apartment overview, or read more on planning a romantic getaway and what we can arrange for special occasions.
A simple two-day plan
A slow morning in the apartment, then the Nubuke Foundation or Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park in the afternoon. Sunset drinks at Sky Bar 25, then dinner nearby in Osu.
Breakfast on the balcony, a beach afternoon at Labadi or Bojo, and a couples spa treatment to wind down. Finish with a quiet dinner cooked in, or a table at Bistro 22.
Good to know
Venues here are independent businesses we like, not part of Rentorize, and their hours change, so confirm before you go. Tap water in Accra is not safe to drink, so carry bottled or sachet water. Ride apps Bolt, Yango, and Uber are the easiest way between spots. For a fuller rundown, see our Accra travel tips and things to do guides.
The dry season from November to March is easiest for getting around. December is the liveliest with Year of Return and Detty December events, and also the busiest and most expensive, so book early. Valentine's weekend fills up too.
Ride apps. Bolt, Yango, and Uber all work in Accra, the fare is set in the app, and they are the simplest way to move between beaches, restaurants, and the hills.
A sunset on the coast is the classic. Labadi for the lively version, or the quieter rocks at its far end, with rooftop drinks at Sky Bar 25 as a close second.
Aburi Botanical Gardens in the hills is a quiet, scenic choice, and a sunset beach moment works well too. If you are staying with us, tell us ahead and we can help set up the apartment.
Yes. Hotel spas such as Kempinski Gold Coast City, Labadi Beach Hotel, and La Palm Royal Beach take couples bookings. Reserve a treatment room in advance.
Entry is free, and it is open Tuesday to Saturday in East Legon, with a cafe and gift shop on site.
About an hour north into the Akuapem hills by car, an easy half-day trip from Cantonments.
A central, private base like the Rentorize apartment at Embassy Gardens in Cantonments keeps most of this within a short drive. See the apartment overview.
A private one-bedroom in Cantonments, central to all of this. Check dates or send a message and we will help you plan the days.
